Jervis heard the doorbell ring and hurried down, pulling at his tie. He might get a way with ignoring his mother from time to time, but it would not pay to ignore his father. He managed to arrive at the base of the stairs, just in front of the door, before his sister and just after his mother.
“Good evening, I am James Marshall,” the man said, reaching forward and kissing Jervis’s mother and handing her a wrapped up gift, probably a bottle of wine. I’m afraid we have beaten your husband home, I saw him pull off at a service station.”
He was a powerful looking man but his wife, and his daughter, were both rather frumpy. And the girl was fat. Not horrible, though, and Jervis’s eyes ranged up and down her. The dress that she had on was obviously designed to attract boys attention, with its plunging neckline that gave ample opening for her rather full bust, and an excellent cut at the waist that drew attention to what figure she did have down there. The girl saw where he was looking (at the bust, again) and gave him a quick wink. Perhaps this evening wouldn’t be as boring as he had thought.
“Come in, come in,” Mother said, giving first the mother and then the daughter a quick kiss. “If you would like to wait in the living room, Mr. Marshall,” she said. “Perhaps your wife would like to come with me? And the kids can run upstairs and play.”
“Call me Jim,” the man said, moving, as directed, into the living room while the wife moved off with Mother; leaving Suzy, Jervis, and the girl standing at the foot of the steps.
“I’m Suzy, and this is my brother Jervis,” Suzy said, shaking the girl’s hand.
“Jennifer,” the girl said.
“Do you want to come see my room?” Suzy asked.
“Sure, lets all go upstairs and ‘play’,” Jennifer said. She had stepped farther forward and stood almost directly below Jervis, giving him even more of an eyeful. “You’re coming, Jervis?”
“Yeah,” Jervis mumbled. This was his lucky day!

Upstairs the girl feigned an interest in Suzy’s collection of dolls, and showed a little more interest in her paintings but, before Suzy was really done asked Jervis, “Do you have a room, too, or do you share with your sister?”
“Yeah, yeah I have a room, too,” Jervis said. “Down this way.”
He looked back as he led Jennifer down the hallway and Suzy was standing in her doorway, a confused look on her face. Then she turned back into her room.
“Is she gone?” Jennifer asked, looking back as they walked into Jervis’s room.
“I think she stayed in her room,” Jervis said.
“Good!” Jennifer said, pulling the door closed.
“I, umm, I’m not supposed to have the door closed. Not with you here.”
“What?”
“No, I, umm, my mother…”
“Oh, come on, you’re afraid of your mother, are you? She doesn’t look like she would hurt a fly.” So saying she finished closing and locking the door. “I was sure that this was going to be a boring evening, until I saw you undressing me,” she said, turning back to him. “I’m between boyfriends right now, so am boy hungry. Your lucky night.”
“Seriously, though, I can’t get caught with the door closed,” Jervis said, reaching over and opening it. “My dad will kill me, literally.”
Jennifer reached back and almost closed the door. “There. That’s still open, isn’t it? And we could come over here behind the door, and we’ll hear if anyone that comes up…”
